MTSS Facilitator Endorsement

The Metro RESA Model of the MTSS Endorsement is currently open for registration. The current registration is ongoing for Cohort 2 which is an asynchronous/self-paced version of the endorsement. Cohort 2 Informational Flyer Registration Link
The MTSS Facilitator Endorsement at Metro RESA is a GaPSC approved preparation program that provides approved candidates with the coursework and related field experience required to add the MTSS Facilitator Endorsement to a current standard Georgia Professional Certificate. Within the program, candidates explore the history and foundations of RTI/MTSS/SST, the problem-solving model, and develop plans for successful implementation.

- Year-long program
- 150 contact hours/15 PLUs
- Comprised of 3 separate courses
- Virtual delivery via Blackboard; asynchronous model
- Local school or school system delivery models may vary

Admission Requirments
- Candidates must hold a valid T-5 or higher, Clear Renewable Certificate, School Psychology Certificate, or School Counseling Certificate.
- Candidates must have a minimum of Master’s degree.
- Candidates must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience.

Tuition Costs
Metro RESA Model:
- The individual course cost is $350.
- The total cost for all three required courses is $1050.
- Participants will not be allowed to begin a course until payment is received by Metro RESA.
- All fees are non-refundable.

Course I: Foundations, Problem Solving, and Universal Screening (50 hours/5 PLUs)
This course is designed to increase a candidate’s knowledge of the historical and legal foundations of Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Student Support Team.
During this course:
- Candidates will complete an assessment of their current school or district
- Utilize a tier 1 classroom observation tool
Candidates will also:
- Receive an introduction to the essential four-step problem-solving model
- Develop competence in step one: problem identification

Course II: Problem Analysis, Plan Implementation, and Program Evaluation (50 hours/5 PLUs)
This course will continue with steps two through four of the problem-solving model.
Candidates will:
- Develop competence in the areas of problem analysis
- Plan for implementation
- Evaluate programs
- Academics
- Behavior
- Participate in peer reviews via discussion boards
The skills in course II will be developed though the "I do, we do, you do" gradual release model.

Course III: Planning for a Successful Implementation (50 hours/5 PLUs)
This course is designed to increase the candidate’s knowledge of the areas required for successful implementation at the classroom, school, or district level.
Candidates will:
- Revisit the implementation rubrics from course I
- Develop a comprehensive intervention continuum for the classroom, school, or district level
- Develop and peer review implementation plans for the following school year upon completion of course III

Meet the Coordinator

Iris Im, Metro RESA MTSS Endorsement Coordinator
Iris is a Georgia native and currently resides in the north Atlanta area. She graduated from Georgia State University with dual certification in early childhood and special education and then received a Master of Science degree in Math and Science Education. Her teaching experience includes interrelated resource, writing, math, science, and social studies in grades K-4. Additionally, she has served in the roles of math instructional coach, SST chair, SST Program Administrator, and currently serves as the Coordinator of Intervention Services for Fulton County Schools.
Outside of Fulton County Schools, she has served as a consultant for the Georgia Department of Education to create professional learning videos for teachers and a one-stop shop for vetted rigorous math instructional tasks. She is a strong advocate for students and learning, and she believes in building the capacity of others to give all students the best possible opportunity for achieving greatness.
