• Tracie Astin
    School Improvement Specialist
    Tracie joined the Metro RESA School Improvement team with more than twenty years in education as a teacher leader, curriculum administrator, principal, and school improvement/leadership support. Previously, Tracie worked at the Georgia Department of Education in School and District Effectiveness. For seventeen years, she primarily supported teaching and learning in various capacities, such as model teacher leader/professional learning, leadership support specialist, curriculum administrator, principal, and school improvement.  As a teacher, she served as a secondary English teacher and departmental chairperson. 

  • Shakia Bruce
    Growing Readers Specialist
    Shakia joined the Metro RESA team in June with over twelve years of experience in elementary education. Prior to joining the team, Shakia served Clayton County Public Schools as a Title 1 literacy coach where she developed and delivered professional learning that aligned to the school improvement plan and rolled out initiatives to boost students’ individual Lexile levels.  Shakia has also worked for Atlanta Public Schools and a local charter school in Dekalb county. Her ultimate love is to combine her expertise in Instructional Technology and Reading instruction to meet the needs of 21st century learners.

     

     

     

  • Shea Konigsmark
    Professional Learning Coordinator
    Shea joined Metro RESA in June.  In her most recent role in Marietta City Schools, she assisted with rolling out district-level initiatives and preparing for sustainability after the initial implementation phase.   Shea served as the district’s first Middle Grades Advanced Studies Coordinator, an initiative aimed at providing more rigor for a wider range of students in the middle grades.  She also served as the District’s K-5 Mathematics Coordinator.  Throughout her years in public education, her focus has been serving students, colleagues, families, and the community through a focus on establishing positive and strong relationships.  Outside of public education, her family owned and operated a successful commercial construction company where she worked as marketing director and site liaison.  

     

  • Miranda

    Dr. Miranda Westbrook
    K-5 Mathematics Specialist
    Miranda joined the Metro RESA team in June as the K-5 Mathematics Specialist.  She has more than seventeen years of experience in education as an elementary teacher and specialist. For the past seven years, she has served as the K-5 Mathematics Professional Learning Specialist for the Cobb County School District. In this role, she supported teachers, academic coaches, and administrators with mathematics through professional learning, instructional rounds, and resource development.  Prior to becoming a mathematics specialist, Miranda taught in the Forsyth County School System for more than 10 years. She has also served as an instructor of the K-5 Mathematics Endorsement and as a special project contractor for the Georgia Department of Education. As a life-long learner, she earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University, and most recently completed the Metro RESA STEM Endorsement.  Miranda loves sharing the joy of mathematics with students, teachers, and leaders.
