Metro RESA GaTAPP Steps for Eligibility

The GaTAPP Cohort for 2023 is currently closed for applications. The next cohort application window will open on October 1, 2023.
If you are not employed but want to be "pre-approved" for the program so that you can seek employment, you will need to complete the online application process between January 1st and May 1st of each year.
STEP ONE

1. Compile All College Transcripts
- Official transcript(s) from ALL accredited colleges or universities attended
- Transcript(s) must list the degree awarded and the date the degree was conferred.
- A Bachelor's degree may not be required for your field.
- CTAE fields will include degree/certificate information from an accredited institution.
- Required cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (2.5 if employed as a teacher)
- If you have a lower GPA AND are employed as a teacher, please contact gatapp@mresa.org prior to applying.
- Must hold a related degree to subject teaching
- Official transcript(s) from ALL accredited colleges or universities attended

2. Provide Passing GACE Content Assessment Scores
- Passing GACE Content Assessment, or equivalent, must be related to college degree awarded
- Related Degree Listings
- Elementary and Special Education fields do not require related degree
- Equivalent assessments could be Praxis, or other state-approved assessments

3. Provide the GACE Educator Ethics Assessment Certificate

- Must be completed prior to program admittance
- Will need to receive GACE Georgia Educator Ethics Certificate prior to submitting the online application

4. Request Two Reference Letters
- Two reference letters:
- Must be from someone other than a relative
- Will be requested in the application process via email

6. Complete the Online Application
The application for the GaTAPP Cohort 2023 has closed. The next cohort application will open October 1, 2023.
You will need to prepare the following to complete the online application:
- Components 1-5 from above:
- Official copies of all college transcripts
- GACE Content Assessment score report
- GACE Georgia Educator Ethics Certificate of Achievement
- Resume
- Two References (from someone other than a relative)
- Will be sent via email within the online application
- If previously approved and currently re-applying for Metro RESA GaTAPP email gatapp@mresa.org to update your application.

7. Pay Application Fee
- $75.00 application fee

Application fees are paid online with a credit card.

All documents must be submitted electronically to Metro RESA via the online application during the application period.
Applicant documents not received via the online application will not be processed.
STEP TWO

1. Applicant Awaits Notification
- Applicants must have satisfied ALL components listed in STEP ONE.
- Notification Window: Allow up to four weeks from completed online application submission and receipt of payment

Applicants who meet the screening requirements from the online application will be notified via email by Metro RESA to register for a mandatory orientation session.

The orientation session is required.

Applicants will learn more about the Metro RESA GaTAPP program and "next steps" at this meeting.

- Applicants must have satisfied ALL components listed in STEP ONE.
STEP THREE

1. Applicant Registers and Attends Mandatory Orientation Session
As stated in STEP TWO, candidates that have met the screening requirements from the online application will receive an email from Metro RESA with details about registering and attending the Metro RESA GaTAPP orientation session.
STEP FOUR

1. Applicant Registers and Makes Payment for Essentials of Effective Teaching
- Register and pay ($650.00) for the Essentials of Effective Teaching class.
- The class will be held during the summer.
- If not employed as a teacher:
- Applicants are placed on an Eligibility List that is disseminated throughout Metro RESA’s school systems.
- Applicants are also encouraged to visit local school systems websites to view current vacancies, or visit Teach Georgia for a listing of all available job openings.
- Applicants must secure a teaching job before they can become enrolled in the upcoming GaTAPP cohort.
- The hiring system and the candidate will submit all required documents for assurances and commitments.
