The application window for all summer 2023 iLEAD cohorts was open from December 1, 2022 through May 22, 2023. Summer 2023 iLEAD cohorts are now closed. We welcome all new iLEAD candidates and look forward to our leadership journey together!
Tier I Certification - entry level leadership positions that include P-12 school level positions below the principal and system level positions that do not supervise principals.
Candidates who successfully complete Tier I of the iLEAD program will be recommended for an Educational Leadership Tier I certificate. Applicants are required to be in a leadership position for at least a half day each day to be admitted into the Tier I program.
Full-time teachers cannot be admitted to the Metro RESA Tier I iLEAD program since it is a job-embedded program and requires candidates to complete leadership experiences during the day.MRESA will host two Tier I summer cohorts. Each cohort will begin with a week-long course on the "Essentials of Effective Leadership, Tier I." This course is offered in a hybrid model of face to face and virtual. Changes in the delivery model will be announced if public health concerns continue. The first cohort will attend Essentials from June 19-23, 2023 from 8:30-4:30. The next cohort will attend Essentials from June 26-30, 2023 from 8:30-4:30. Candidates will select their preference of the two cohorts when applying. Please make sure you can attend all course dates for the cohort you prefer.
Tier I candidates will also participate in weekly seminars on Wednesday evenings from September through the beginning of May. Most of these seminars are online from 7:30- 9:00 pm. Attendance is required.
Once you are admitted into the iLEAD program, your district is required to apply for a non-renewable educational leadership certificate for you if you do not already possess one. It is recommended that you contact the person in your district who takes care of this to ensure they are willing to apply for the NL on your behalf.

The Metro RESA iLEAD program is a partnership between your school, your school district and Metro RESA to assist you in developing your leadership skills. The program is one year in length and requires a significant commitment of time. Applicants are required to be in a leadership position for at least a half day each day to be admitted into the Tier I program. Full-time teachers cannot be admitted to the Metro RESA Tier I iLEAD program since it is a performance-based program and requires candidates to work on leadership tasks and experiences during the day. The iLEAD program is job-embedded and each candidate will complete their work within the framework of the Candidate Support Team. The CST represents the partnership between the district and Metro RESA iLEAD. The CST collaboratively develops an individual induction plan throughout the candidate’s year-long clinical practice. The CST guides, supports, and monitors candidate goals and program requirements.
Please read all the information below before beginning your application. It is recommended that you discuss the program with your site administrator/principal before you begin the application process. The following four documents will assist you and your site administrator in learning more about our iLEAD program.
