Whole Child Model Schools

  • The Georgia Department of Education defines a Whole Child Model School as a community school.  A community school is a school that offers comprehensive educational opportunities through both academic and nonacademic services while partnering with families, students, and the community to increase student access and success. Allowing for individual community differences, the Whole child Model School framework provides a customized approach while focusing on fundamental community school best practices that are guided by four main pillars: 1) Integrated student supports, 2) Expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities, 3) Family and community engagement and 4) Collaborative leadership and practices.
